Mike,

You and I both know that the substance of what you wrote is total bullshit. There is only one way for you to clear your name: polygraph! Yes you need to hook yourself up and prove all your unconvincing statements. You were in Ukiah on May 23, 1990, while Judi was there. You have admitted being in Ukiah, at work, all day... in writing. Take a polygraph; it's the only way out. Ask a policeman; polygraphs are never wrong. That's what they'll tell you. Law inforcement relies on polygraphs. Below is an exchange of emails you might find interesting.

I contacted a professional polygraphist. Here is what I wrote:

Dear polygraphist,

I'm a free lance writer and have been investigating a ten year old bombing. I've been putting pressure on one of the suspects to take a polygraph. His last response was the following:"I would consider undergoing a scientific test for honesty once an accurate one is invented. Experts have testified that the polygraph is no more accurate than the toss of a coin."

How should I answer him? Do you have any suggestions? Your web page was impressive so I thought you might not mind if I asked. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Here is what the polygraphist wrote in reply:

Ed,

The polygraph is only as good as the polygraphist. I have done over 200 examinations and have not had 1 certified mistake. A polygraphist with 50 per cent reliability would not be in business for long.

The polygraph is an instument, therefore incapable of making a mistake; mistakes are made by the polygraphist. Your bombing suspect probably has good reason to not take the examination.
